Emotion is vital to a good story. Characters are flat without realistic, dynamic emotion and the story will not hook a reader. While emotion has been covered on this blog in earlier blog entries, new information is always helpful to writers. A notable thought about emotions is that they are not pure responses, but are a complex blend of feelings and reactions with nuances and dimensions that come alive in a character's actions and thoughts.
A weblink came to my attention through blogger and romance novelist RaeAnne Thayne that creates a three-dimensional look at emotion and its amazing blend of colors. The article shows how a stimulus results in reactions both in thought, feelings, and behavior as the character disgests the event in all its complexities.
